April 19, 2009

John Roberson Day 1860? - 1935? (sometimes misspelled Robertson Day) MD was a British orthodox physician who converted to homeopathy, to become a Consultant Paediatrician and Senior Anaesthetist at the London Homeopathic Hospital, a member of the British Homeopathic Society, Physician to the Margaret Street Infirmary, and the Editor of The International Homeopathic Medical Directory 1911-12,

Roberson Day started the Children’s Homeopathic Dispensary at Shepherd’s Bush around 1920. The Dispensary was amalgamated with the London Homeopathic Hospital in 1937, and thus became part of the Children’s Outpatient Department there.

John Roberson Day is listed in both of Garth Wilkinson’s address books at 31 Nelhenhall Gardens, Fitzjohn’s Avenue, Hampstead, and at 35 Queen Anne Street, Cavendish Square, W (presumably his consulting rooms?) (Swedenborg Archive Address Book of James John Garth Wilkinson dated 1895. See also Swedenborg Archive A183r Address Book of James John Garth Wilkinson ‘Where is it’ dated 1.10.1892).

Roberson Day was a patient of Allan Broman, and a colleague of John Galley Blackley, David Dyce Brown, George Henry Burford, John Henry Clarke, Washington Epps, John Moorhead Byres Moir, David MacNish, Harold Fergie Woods, Dudley d’Auvergne Wright, and many others.

In 1887, Edmund Becket Lord Grimthorpe, Chairman of the Governing Body, proposed homeopaths and homeopathic supporters as nominees to the Margaret Street Infirmary, and the Board of the Hospital clearly stated that homeopaths were not ineligible, and John Beckett, J Roberson Day, Kenneth William Millican, and Charles Lloyd Tuckey, were duly appointed,

Roberson Day worked at the Hopital de L’Alliance during WWI, and he retired from practice in 1922.

Roberson Day’s publisher was J. Epps and Co Ltd. J Roberson Day wrote Sea Water Treatment, Sea Water Treatment in the Light of Recent Research, Adenoids Treated without Operation, Childhood in Health and Sickness, he edited the International Homeopathic Medical Directory with Ethelbert Petrie Hoyle, and he submitted many cases and articles to various homeopathic publications, and he lectured widely on homeopathy,
