George Wyatt Truscott 1857 - 1941

George Wyatt Truscott 1857 –
1941George Wyatt Truscott, 1st Baronet 1857 - 1941 (photo used courtesy  of Homéopathe International) Lord Mayor of London, was a Patron and a member of the Board of Management of the London Homeopathic Hospital since 1911, and he laid the Cornerstone of the Henry Tyler Wing of the London Homeopathic Hospital on 30.6.1909, alongside John George Edward Henry Douglas Sutherland Campbell 9th Duke of Argyll, Robert William Perks, and John Pakenham Stilwell.

George Wyatt Truscott was a patient of homeopathy, and afterwards he became a lifelong supporter of homeopathy, and a contributer to the James Compton Burnett Memorial.

George Wyatt Truscott was a President of the British Homeopathic Association, and a member of the London Mental Hospital Visiting Committee.

George Wyatt Truscott was Lord Mayor of London when William Gladstone was Prime Minister, and he knew Edward VII, Catherine and William BoothWinston Churchill.

T. Hall (Architect), the Mayor and Mayoress of Holborn, Robert William Perks and Lady Perks, Sir George Wyatt and Lady Truscott, Charles Henry Turner Bishop of Islington, the Rev. E. C. Bedford, and representatives of the lady Visitors. Ladies’ Guild, and other good friends.

Prayers were offered by Charles Henry Turner Bishop of Islington, and hymns were sung by the Choir of St. George the Martyr, Queen Square. After the Duke had declared the building open, John Pakenham Stilwell, Chairman of the Board of Management, presented an address, which stated that the Hospital, opened sixty years previously, had become, on a sound financial basis, capable of extended and widespread work among the poor.

The secretary then announced the amount of the Purses presented to the Mayoress of Holborn, which with the donations specially contributed towards the furnishing brought up the Princess’s List to a total of £ 1,090 8s.

George Wyatt Truscott and eleven others, signed an Open letter written by David MacNish and addressed: “To the friends of homeopathy in Great Britain”.

He was created 1st Baronet Truscott, of Oakleigh, East Grinstead, Sussex [U.K.] on 16 July 1909. He was decorated with the award of Officer, Order of **Leopold I Belgium**. He was decorated with the award of Knight Commander, Order of the Rising Sun of Japan. He was decorated with the award of Legion of Honour.

He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.). He was decorated with the award of Knight Commander, Order of the Rising Sun of Japan. He held the office of Lieutenant of the City of London. He was Officer, Order of **Leopold I Belgium** and Legion Hon, Coronation , knighted 1902. He was decorated with the award of Order of Vass of Sweden. He was decorated with the award of Grand Cross, Order of St. Stanislas of Russia.

Francis Wyatt Truscott 1824 - 1895, father of George Wyatt Truscott, Lieutenant of the City of London, Lord Mayor of London from 1879 to 1880, President of the Society of Artists, Founder and 1st Master of The Savage Club Masonic Lodge, was also an eager advocate of homeopathy. Other members of The Savage Club Masonic Lodge include Wilkie Collins, Edward VII, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Mark Twain. Francis Wyatt Truscott was also a friend of Richard Walter Hely Hutchinson 6th Earl of Donoughmore,
