Lady Charlotte Greville 1775 - 1862

Lady Charlotte Greville 1775 - 1862 was an advocate of homeopathy, and she attended a Fancy Bazaar in aid of the London Homeopathic Hospital on 9th 10th June 1855, and a  fund raising event held in support of the London Homeopathic Hospital at the Riding School of the Cavalry Barracks in Kensington on 10.6.1858,

Charlotte Greville was a close friend of Arthur Wellesley 1st Duke of Wellington (they reportedly had an affair), her daughter Harriet Catherine Greville married Francis Egerton 1st Earl of Ellesmere

Lady Charlotte Cavendish Bentinck was born circa 1773. She was the daughter of William Henry Cavendish Bentinck 3rd Duke of Portland and Lady Dorothy Cavendish. She married Captain Charles Greville, son of Fulke Greville and Frances Macartney, on 31 March 1793. She died on 28 July 1862. Her married name became Greville. Charles Cavendish Fulke Greville 1794 - 1865 was an English diarist and an amateur cricketer who played first-class cricket from 1819 to 1827. His father Charles Greville was a grandson of the Francis Richard Charles Greville 5th Earl of Warwick, and his mother was Lady Charlotte Bentinck, daughter of the William Henry Cavendish Bentinck 3rd Duke of Portland (former leader of the Whig party and Prime Minister). Charles Cavendish Fulke Greville was Clerk of the Privy Council under Robert Peel, and Prince Albert (who came from a family tradition of homeopathy, and when he came to England to marry Queen Victoria, he renewed the Royal patronage of homeopathy).

Henry William Greville (1801–1872) the brother of Charles Cavendish Fulke Greville ‘… was an English aristocrat and diarist…’ who knew  William Francis Cowper Temple 1st Baron Mount Temple (James Gregory, Reformers, Patrons and Philanthropists, (Taurus Academic Studies, 2010). Page 100).

Harriet Catherine Greville married Francis Egerton 1st Earl of Ellesmere, the uncle of Hugh Lupus Grosvenor 1st Duke of Westminster, who was the son of Richard Grosvenor Earl Grosvenor 2nd Marquess of Westminster, the nephew of Thomas Egerton 2nd Earl of Wilton, and the nephew of Robert Grosvenor 1st Baron Ebury, the father in law of George Henry Charles Byng 3rd Earl of Strafford, and he was also related to Granville Leveson Gower 1st Earl Granville – all staunch advocates of homeopathy,

Harriet Catherine Greville was the daughter of Captain Charles Greville and Lady Charlotte Cavendish-Bentinck. She married Francis Egerton 1st Earl of Ellesmere, son of George Granville Leveson-Gower 1st Duke of Sutherland, and Elizabeth Gordon Countess of Sutherland, on 18 June 1822. She died on 17 April 1866. Her married name became Egerton.
