Arnold Bennett 1867 - 1931

Enoch Arnold Bennett 1867 - 1931 was an English novelist.

Arnold Bennett was a friend of Aubrey Vincent Beardsley, Arthur Conan Doyle, Thomas Hardy, Rudyard Kipling, Siegfried Sassoon, Cyril Meir Scott, George Bernard Shaw and Herbert George Wells. Bennett acted as an intermediary between George Bernard Shaw and Raphael Roche.

Arnold Bennet, a member of The Golden Dawn, would have known homeopaths Edward William Berridge, Charles Lloyd Tuckey, and several other members who were ardent supporters of homeopathy, including William Alexander Ayton, Edward Bulwer Lytton, Kenneth Robert Henderson MacKenzie, Bram Stoker, Robert Masters Theobald, and William Butler Yeats.

Bennett was born in a modest house in Hanley in the Potteries district of Staffordshire. Hanley is one of a conurbation of six towns which joined together at the beginning of the twentieth century as Stoke on Trent.
